What gets rejected

Everything posted here is read once by a machine — Google’s Gemini — before it appears. It is looking for a short, specific list of things, not for whether your writing is comfortable. On the free tier this site uses, Google may have a person read what you submit and may train on it; the privacy notice spells that out.

• —Slurs, or hatred aimed at people for their race, religion, sex, sexuality, nationality or disability.
• —Calls for violence, or threats against a real person.
• —Attacks on a real, named, living person.
• —Sexual content involving a minor, in any framing at all.
• —Someone's address, phone number, or other private detail.
• —Advertising, spam, and links pretending to be writing.

Published

Everything else. To be plain about it, because most filters are not:

• —Writing that is furious, bitter, vengeful or cruel.
• —Writing about death, suicide, self-harm, addiction, abuse or war — in the first person, without hope, in detail.
• —Writing that is blasphemous, sacrilegious, anti-clerical, or addressed to God in contempt.
• —Writing that is profane or obscene.
• —Writing that is sexual, between adults.
• —Writing that will offend somebody.

Rage and doubt are among the oldest subjects there are, and a poem that sits inside despair is not an instruction to anyone. When the reviewer is genuinely unsure, it publishes. If it gets something wrong in the other direction, any reader can report it.
